The Risk & Compliance department, largely based in London and made up of mostly qualified lawyers, exists to manage the firms risk exposure and to provide advice to! the Partners about a range of conflicts and compliance issues associated with taking on new matters and entering into relevant contracts with clients. The Risk & Compliance Analyst will assist in the New York office (and a part of an international network) with the implementation of internal risk processes, particularly in the area of conflict of interest and other compliance requirements arising from relevant jurisdictional regulations (e.g. the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct, and the New York Bar Rules).
Responsibilities include assisting the attorneys in the Risk & Compliance department with day-to-day conflicts analysis as well as administering internal compliance measures including information barriers, insider lists, client care requirements and other projects. Additional responsibilities include record keeping and assisting with the maintenance of databases and internal know-how.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
We are l! ooking for an individual with a Bachelors degree or equivalent! with 1-3 years experience in compliance, regulatory or related issues, preferably in a law firm environment. A JD is a plus. This individual should have knowledge of applicable ethical rules and guidelines and related compliance issues. Must be proficient in MS Suite and have exceptional web-based and general research skills. The ability to pay close attention to detail and to work to extremely high standards of accuracy and efficiency under time pressures is a must along with strong organizational skills. Effective written and oral communication skills are essential. Excellent interpersonal and client service skills are required.
