THE POSITION
Work within the firm's newly formed internal Corporate Strategy team to identify, develop and implement transformational projects for senior management. The position will report to the Director of Corporate Strategy. This is a new team, which reports directly to the President and CEO of the Company. Successful candidates will play an integral and highly visible role in identifying and executing transformational projects for senior management. The key focus will be two-fold: (1) evaluating and executing strategic mergers or acquisitions, and (2) supporting the corporate strategic deve! lopment.
Our Corporate Strategy team acts as a trusted adv! isor to the firm's senior leadership team, and addresses high impact strategic issues within the firm's portfolio of businesses. The position affords a unique opportunity to be one of the first members of a small and highly visible team, identify and execute transformational projects for senior management, and gain exposure to the full breadth of the bank's global platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Corporate Strategy Analyst/Associate position is specifically designed for senior analyst / junior associate level individuals. Both pre-MBA and post-MBA individuals with 2+ years of experience at a strategy consulting firm, investment bank, or private equity firm will be considered.
This position will work in close partnership with business heads and senior leadership to:

  • Identify opportunities and issues of strategic importance to the bank and within business units
  • Develop transformational strategies to grow and re-position businesses
  • Prov! ide clarity in complex problems, facilitate decision-making, and guide high value investments
  • Analyze and execute tuck-in, add-on, and transformational acquisitions for the bank
Strategic Projects:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams on various strategic assignments
  • Develop strategic and analytical frameworks that may pertain to specific markets, businesses or competitive analyses
  • Develop work plans to execute analyses in such frameworks (including project timelines, data requirements, specific steps)
  • Perform deep dives on specific businesses to assess strategies and opportunities
  • Conduct in-depth research to support business strategies and identify trends across key business drivers such as credit, asset trends, cost structure, pricing, unit economics, product management and operational functions
  • Responsible for regularly updating senior management on progress of projects until comple! tion
Mergers & Acquisitions:
  • Assist in l! eading end-to-end mergers and acquisition process, including: deal sourcing; leading exploratory discussions; developing valuation and deal terms; executing due diligence; interfacing with legal, accounting and finance divisions; developing integration plans and closing transactions
  • Work effectively with consultants, bankers, accountants, attorneys, etc. to drive successful project completion
  • Deliver timely, zero-defect execution of analysis, with minimal support
  • Synthesize key findings of analyses and recommendations and clearly communicate the implications to senior management
Minimum Required Skills and Experience:
  • BA/BS or MBA from top tier school with 2-5 years of experience at a strategy consulting company, investment bank or private equity firm
  • Keen interest and experience in financial services industry
  • Structured, logical and creative thinker, combining out-of-the-box thinking with a willing! ness to question the status quo
  • Ability to dissect a problem in an organized manner and form a hypothesis
  • Detail oriented and possessing a high degree of analytic rigor including the ability to run highly complicated quantitative analysis in a defect free manner; advanced user of Excel and Powerpoint
  • Strong communication skills both written and in speaking, must be comfortable working with people at multiple levels
  • Consensus building team player, enthusiasm is ley
  • Self-starter with a "can do" attitude, high energy and ability to prioritize, take ownership and drive project through to completion
