The Trademark Practice Legal Support Team, part of the JPMorgan Chase Legal & Compliance Department, is a dynamic group of legal professionals that provides legal support for our firm's trademark needs. What distinguishes this Team is the breadth of services offered and the span of partners and clients served. The Team ! works closely with all lines of businesses and corporate group! s globally.
The Team's primary goal is to provide to JPMorgan Chase the legal advice that it needs to develop and protect its trademark rights. We oversee the clearance of all new product names, manage all trademark applications and registrations, provide trademark legal expertise in transactional agreements and act as trademark subject matter experts for our firm. The Team directly advises and works closely with business and corporate groups across our firm in order to assist our internal clients in achieving their business objectives. The Team also collaborates with other attorneys and partners to identify and minimize risk and maximize the value of JPMorgan Chase's trademark assets in accordance with our firm's policies and procedures. A major directive for the Team is the ongoing development of new client relationships within our firm and educating both clients and other attorneys on trademark issues.
We seek a skilled paralegal to perform duties relat! ed to researching the availability of proposed new product names, determining the current business interest in marks already registered by our firm and taking action against trademark infringers. Duties also include patent litigation support and general factual and legal research related to trademarks. Your duties will be mostly non-routine, requiring significant judgment and experience to successfully accomplish tasks without direct supervision. A successful candidate is a self starter who requires little supervision and has the ability to handle competing time demands.
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of paralegal experience, including significant trademark experience
- Strong PC skills (advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of LexisNexis and/or Westlaw
- Knowledge of general office procedures
- Excellent organiz! ational skills
- Tact and good judgment in handling confidential information
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally at all levels, including senior management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including excellent telephone etiquette
- High level of dependability and intelligence
- Ability and willingness to learn, understand and comply with
- Ability and willingness to identify and effectively capitalize
- Excellent reviews and referrals from your current manager and peers
Knowledge of collaboration tools like Sharepoint
Experience with patent or trademark litigation
