Position Summary Maintenance, repair, testing, and documentation of the aforementioned, of Production equipment and components of electrical, electronic & mechanical nature in a cGMP compliant pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

MINIMUM JOB FUNCTIONS Essential Functions

Follow safe work practices in the execution of their assigned duties.

Actively participate in general site and Departmental Safety initiatives.

Collect all process related hazardous wastes and transport to accumulation drums.

Inspect machine parts for wear or damage; remove or replace as required.

Perform, with assistance as necessary , scheduled and preventative maintenance; and documentation of same, on production and support equipment of a basic electrical, electronic or mechanical nature.

Setup and adjust, with assistance as necessary , equipment according to product specifications. Insure proper assembly and operation.

Assist in troubleshooting and solving of electrical, electronic & mechanical problems with equipment to minimize production downtime.

Perform, with assistance as necessary , repairs to systems that support machine operations e.g. electrical, electronic or mechanical.

Assist in refinishing of machines in production e.g. sandblasting, grinding, painting.

Assist in movement and setup of equipment.

Complete all job related documentation in accordance with written procedures.

Assist in the installation and qualification of new and existing equipment to meet manufacturers’ operational and safety specifications.

Assist with operator training regarding setup, maintenance and capability of machines.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Marginal Functions

Clean machinery and production areas according to department SOPs.

May be cross-trained to support machine setup and maintenance in other departments.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Medium physical demand requires exertion to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds continuously, 25 to 60 pounds frequently and over 60 pounds occasionally. Physical demand also involves walking, standing and reaching (90%), balancing, bending and grasping (50%), talking/hearing (40%) and kneeling, climbing, and feeling (15%).

Mental demand is concentrated when working with specific manufacturers’ instructions, blueprints and schematics, when working on equipment components and when recording information on required paperwork. This concentrated attention is intermittent.

Visual demand is frequent and requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more with peripheral vision and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus, to judge distance and space relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Exposure to product chemicals and residue requires incumbent to wear designated PPE on a regular basis.

Protective clothing including shirt, slacks, safety glasses, booties, hairnet, and gloves are worn continuously in performance of the job functions.

Work hazards include frequent exposure to numerous moving mechanical parts and electrical currents, high voltage controls, exposure to dust, odors, cleaning solvents, noise and vibration.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education: Requires a high school education or equivalent plus 1 to 2 years specialized training (or equivalent experience) in mechanical, electrical or electronic trades. Experience: Requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years experience in electrical, electronic or mechanical trade (or related experience such as auto mechanics, machinist) and job training on the various equipment supported in order to gain sufficient skill to perform the requirements of the position. Skills and Abilitiesthat may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

Perform reading, writing and speaking at a basic level;read and comprehend basic electrical/electronic schematics and mechanical drawings.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.

Deal with system of real numbers and their complex applications in a variety of mathematical and statistical relationships.

Ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with several variables in mostly standardized situations.

Ability to work under moderate supervision to gain solid understanding of equipment, vehicles and systems.

Ability to understand and work with electrical/electronic, e.g. PLC, HMI etc., controls and mechanical systems, e.g. hydraulic, pneumatic etc.

Ability to work with machine shop equipment under supervision.

Skills & abilities necessary to interact and work with other Maintenance Mechanics and production operators.
