Morgan Lewis is currently seeking a FrontEnd Web Developer who will be resident in the New York Office. This position entails supporting our existing 15+ web properties and developing new websites, microsites and landing pages in a fastpaced environment. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Web & Digital Brand Communications. The FrontEnd Web Developer will be responsible for scoping prospective website enhancements, troubleshooting bugs, outages and minor issues; working with vendors to identify and implement changes; analyzing site performance metrics and making recommendations to improve the effectiveness of content or design; providing input on internal processes; and assisting with various forms of documentation.
The individual will stay abreast of new frontend web development technologies; write and maintain frontend code for websites, microsites, landing pages, and email templates; and make content changes and updates as requested. They will provide functional quality assurance for own work and the work of peers; estimating the required level of effort on own behalf. Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Communications, Marketing or related discipline, and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in web programming. The ideal candidate will have an indepth understanding of technologies such as HTML/XHTML, CSS, jQuery/JavaScript, ColdFusion, PHP, and WordPress.
A firm grasp of databasedriven architecture and CMS platforms is essential as well as proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite 5. A thorough understanding of web standards and website content publication processes are required; experience with content migration projects is a plus. A strong attention to detail, with pixelperfect precision is required and knowledge of mobile web and responsive design principles is desired; direct experience with them is a plus. The successful applicant will be knowledgeable about crossbrowser issues and how to fix them; experience with mobile app development and analytics, and SEO is a plus, including knowledge of the principles and practices of usability and information architecture.
Candidates must have strong communications skills including some editing skills (e.g., ability to follow style guide rules, recognize deviations from established style guide, and make corrections) and some writing skills (e.g., metadata descriptions, teasers, documentation). Qualified applicants will need to: demonstrate coding skills; have a keen eye for effective and usable web design; work well with a tightly integrated team; be able to explain technical processes to nontechnical individuals; be detailoriented; execute quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines; and understand that usability is a multistep process and requires being a user first and foremost.
