Nelson Levine de Luca & Hamilton, a premier law firm focused on the business of insurance, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced litigation paralegal in our growing New York office. The role entails managing cases from the early stages of discovery through trial; strong document management/large litigation experience and significant experience using document management systems such as Relativity, Case Notebook, Summation, etc.; managing large document reviews and productions; and analyzing discovery materials in the defense of complex cases, including cla! ss action litigation. The ideal candidate will have strong org! anizational, communication and analytic skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research, investigations and statistical/documentary research
- Summarize depositions, testimony, pleadings and discovery
- Assist attorneys with preparing for trial, depositions and hearings
- Research local, state and federal rules in connection with filings
- Prepare pleadings, discovery requests, answers, motions, etc.
- Case and document management
- Perform Bluebooking and Shephardizing
- Oversee production of large documents
- Use and update Summation, Relativity and Case Map on a daily basis
- Prepare chronologies of file documents
- Bachelor’s degree plus 3-7 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal
- Experience with Westlaw, Lexis Nexi! s, and ProLaw preferred
- Knowledge of NY court rules, as well as experience in filing in the NY court system
- Knowledge of federal court rules, as well as experience in e-filing in federal court
