Emston Media LTD is seeking a creative ghostwriter to write novel-length books for the fantasy romance genre on a monthly basis, long-term. This position is flexible—work when you want—as long as deadlines are met and communication is prompt.
Must be able to write in U.S. English, first person and third person POVs, past tense, while alternating POVs. Must have excellent skills at writing romance—including spicy sex scenes—and bringing fictional worlds to life. Must also be able to write heroines readers will root for, swoon-worthy love interests, political intrigue, and magic and/or fantastical creatures. Character development, ability to implement alternating POVs in plot structure with original twists, suspenseful writing, creative world development, witty dialogue, and the ability to create emotional, tragic moments as well as humorous ones are a must.
We are looking for a dependable writer to work with long-term in a team environment who can deliver many books on a regular basis. Must have good communication skills, as communicating with us for deadlines is a must. We need someone who is willing to adapt to our style and work independently while at the same time being open to revisions and suggestions. We work as a team and care about our writers. This is a good opportunity for someone who wants job security.
A detailed outline and story arc will be provided to you for each book. You will be given a chapter-by-chapter outline to work from but will still have some creative license. We expect your work to be self-edited and proofread. Our editing team will go over what you create, and if needed, send it back to you for revisions. You will be working with editors who are experienced in the genre, in an online shared environment, and must be open to suggestions and corrective criticism from another set of eyes. The team will be there to provide help and suggestions where needed. The goal is to work together to create compelling fantasy romance series.
Requirements:
· The ideal candidate will have experience writing novels in either fantasy or historical romance genre. Candidates with experience writing paranormal romance, urban or other types of fantasy, or romance will be considered.
· Write 80,000-95,000-word novels, following a detailed outline.
· Write in both first and third person, past tense, multiple POVs.
· Be able to fill in for a writer, finishing a series if needed, emulating the characters of the series.
· Deadline driven and able to provide books on time for the continuation of the series.
· Able to self-edit and proofread work before submitting.
· Research skills (with documentation on established legends, lore, mythology related to the book if necessary).
· Work in an online shared team environment while also working independently (will participate in discussions surrounding plot/backstory that includes editors, outline manager, and outline writer assigned to the series).
· Sign an NDA.
· Take constructive criticism.
· Able to respond to communication within 24-hours (if you are sick or will be late on a deadline, you agree to send a message).
· Use an up-to-date version of Microsoft Word.
· Must be willing to learn our style: Chicago Manual of Style, Merriam-Webster, and the Emston Media Style Guidelines, which will be provided to you.
