The Messaging Administrator position is a senior technical role within the Technology Operations group, which is a key component of an IT department tasked with supporting world class ! lawyers in one of the most prestigious firms in the country. Responsibilities include system administration, project management, and end user support for the firm’s email, instant messaging, and mobile device environments. The Technology Operations group is responsible for a wide range of daily activities such as level 3 end user support for over 1000 lawyers and staff, system administration, and technical troubleshooting in a 24x7, dual office environment (NYC and London). The group is also responsible for ensuring all applications function in a highly redundant and reliable manner via the firm’s disaster recovery site.

The ideal candidate will be energetic, creative, enthusiastic, intelligent, analytical, and eager to take on responsibility and learn new skills. He or she must enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic IT department, and contribute an exciting, teamwork-oriented environment. This role requires in depth knowledge of Lotus Domino s! erver architecture, the Lotus Notes client, mail template design, and Lotus Sametime instant messaging.

General familiarity with mobile device technology such as BlackBerry, iOS, Lotus Traveler, and MDM solutions is also desired. Additional technologies that would be beneficial to have experience in are Citrix XenApp, Autonomy iManage, VMware and eDiscovery. This position requires a continual focus on all aspects of end user customer support relating to these systems, as well as presenting ideas on how new technology will benefit our end users’ day-to-day operations. While the firm is currently using the Lotus Notes Domino platform, the ideal candidate will also have experience migrating from a Domino environment to a Microsoft Exchange platform.

Job Responsibilities include Technical bull Maintaining full knowledge of the firm’s Lotus Notes infrastructure, including all customizations specific to the firm’s environment and new versions of released s! oftware. bull Testing and upgrading Lotus Notes clients and Lotus Domino servers. bull Maintaining the Domino Sametime clients and server platform. bull Performing regularly scheduled tasks needed to maintain a healthy, high performance email environment.

bull Documenting procedures relating to disaster recovery, replication, backups and patching on all Domino related systems. bull Performing off-hour upgrades andor maintenance on the Domino server environment. bull Maintaining Domino security best practices (i.e., encrypted communication, ID management, etc.) bull Adhering to established Domino standards and best practices. bull Providing advanced level troubleshooting and application problem solving related to the use of email related applications.

bull Providing 247 off hours customer support as part of the Technology Operations Group On-Call rotation. Project Management bull Organizing and leading technical projects within the group. bull Creating and ! maintaining project plans and issue logs. bull Providing regular projec! t status updates to management.

bull Managing outside vendors or consultants. bull Creating documentation and providing training for the group and Help Desk. Job Requirements include bull A Bachelor’s degree in an Information TechnologyComputer Science field MCP, MCSA, MCTS, SQL, ITIL, PMP, IBM Lotus or other technical certifications preferred. bull 5 or more years of hands-on Lotus Notes Domino administration experience.

bull Experience with Microsoft Exchange Design Deployment. bull Experience with migration from a Lotus Notes email environment to a Microsoft Exchange email environment. bull Strong end user customer support skills. bull Excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well as presentation skills.

bull Attention to detail and strong organizational and project management skills. bull Excellent problem-solving skills. bull The ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of personnel. bull Motivation a! nd desire to learn quickly and continually improve technologies within the Firm.

bull The ability to remain composed in stressful situations and properly prioritizes tasks, many of which may be urgent or time sensitive. bull The ability to independently manage tasks, projects and deadlines, without reliance on management for day-to-day guidance on priorities. bull The availability to work extended hours as needed, including nights, weekends and holidays.
