V-Day is seeking a Finance Manager to provide leadership and coordination of V-Day's budget, internal controls and compliance, and oversee the day-to-day financial management. Finance Manager is charged with staying current with software, non-profit finance practices, labor laws and workers comp and other related issues of financial resources of the organization.

The Manager partners with the V-Day team to continuously improve accounting, donor and grant systems. Position has direct reporting to Executive Director and Managing Director.

The Finance Manager provides organizational leadership for GAAP compliant accounting practices, critical reporting for decision making; s/he is responsible for all accounting and auditing, budget preparation and management, granto! r grants, payroll, tax filings and statutory reporting > The Finance Manager will also be responsible for the Human Resources for V-Day

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Budget & Reporting

Manages the annual budget process, meets with departmental staff with budget responsibilities to assist with projections

Prepares bi-weekly cash flow and projections report to Executive Management and monitors and brings to Management's attention, all potential overspending and other financial metric benchmarks

Prepares budget analysis, financial statements and presentation documents for review by the Management Team, Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.

Accounting and Internal Controls

Records vendor invoices and grantee payment in GL and prepare expenses for payment. Payment methods will include electronic bill pay, checks, ACH, bank wire and Western Union.

Process bi-monthly payroll with external payroll service ensuring the proper withholding and statut! ory taxes are in place.

Tracking and documenting all staff expense reports through the on-line Concur system which integrates with Quickbooks.

Ensures corporate compliance with local, state and federal regulators

Manages the month-end closing process by the 15 th of the following month, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations and adjusting entries.

Manages the annual audit with external CPA audit firm and the preparation of the annual IRS form 990 working with the auditors

Cash Receipts

Prepare scans of incoming checks and documentation for internal distribution.

Records deposits into GL and sends remote deposit scans directly to the bank

Oversees the filing of financial and related receipts and or correspondence in proper area

Reviews, develops, adjusts and implements procedures to reconcile all data related to donations across donors and platforms.

Accounts for and tracks al! l multi-year pledges, recording in restricted and temporary restricted ! accounts

Reconciles monthly reports from Development's Donor Perfect database with the general ledger. Ensures that all receipts are appropriately classified in the ledger and in the database.

Assisting cross-departmental working groups as finance representative to review business processes and recommended changes to processes or vendor practices.

Management & Administration

Participates in planning and implementation of Finance Department strategies, policies, and procedures.

Makes recommendations to improve financial, accounting, human resources and IT operations

Evaluates and recommends improvements in interdepartmental workflows

Responsible for business liability, worker's compensation and health insurance for the organization.

Prepare consulting agreements from attorney generated boiler plate contracts.

Review vendor agreements and proposals.

Human Resources

Responsible f! or vacation and sick day tracking, changes to benefit plans, on-boarding of new hires.

Works with Executive Director on compensation analysis and reviews

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education and/or Experience:
BS degree in Accounting, Business Management, or the equivalent and four years experience in non-profit business management, accounting, or related work, or Graduate degree in the profession or the equivalent plus three to six years of experience, or more than 7 years related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Non-profit accounting experience is a pre-requisite.

Candidate must be proficient in computer accounting software Quickbook Enterprise/Pro, knowledgeable about standard accounting principles, especially as related to non-profits and IRS regulations.

Experience with international women's issues and politics a plus.

All candidates will be tested on-line! for proficiency in Quickbooks and intermediate accounting principles. ! A background check will be required.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend complex documents; to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints; to prepare correspondence, grant proposals, presentations and articles as may be necessary; and to communicate effectively with staff, clients, the Board, members of the community and others. Excellent writing skills are required.

Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of practical problems; to educate staff on budgets and accounting procedures. Candidate is expected to be able to communicate effectively and work in a fast paced virtual environment with other staff and have the discipline to work independently. Work Env! ironment:
The organization is virtual with no head office. All staff work from home offices around the country and the world. The Finance Manager will need to work out of his/her own home office. In person meetings with Executive Director and senior staff will take place as needed during the year.

Technology Required:
Candidate is expected to have complete knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise/Pro and advanced Excel (e.g. pivot tables, macros). Knowledge of Donor Perfect or similar donor system like Convio, Common Ground. Organization uses on-line expense reporting system with Concur which integrates with Quickbooks.
