SocialGuide was established with the vision that social media, and Twitter in particular, has transformed the traditional TV viewing experience. The growth of s! ocial participation around linear TV is growing exponentially, and SocialGuide’s mission is to enable networks, advertisers and agencies to measure, understand and act on the Twitter activity surrounding TV.

SocialGuide identifies, captures and analyzes conversation on Twitter in real time for every program aired across 236 of the most popular U.S. television channels, including Spanish language channels. SocialGuide uses this data to power SocialGuide Intelligence, the core analytics and engagement product, a suite of API solutions that provide intelligence and curated content to power the next generation of social applications for MSOs, connected TVs and second screen developers, and the Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings.

Position Summary

Working with the leading TV networks and world’s biggest advertisers, the Head of Marketing and Communications for Nielsen’s SocialGuide will develop and execute the strategy for expanding SocialGuide’s footpr! int in the marketplace. Leading all internal and external mark! eting, communications and PR initiatives, this person will work in close collaboration with Nielsen and SocialGuide’s go-to-market partner, Twitter, and serve as a member of SocialGuide’s Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity to propel the growth of the burgeoning social TV industry behind the leading Twitter TV analytics business, backed by Nielsen and Twitter.

Position Accountabilities

External Marketing

Ensure uniform and compelling corporate positioning through consistent use of messages, corporate identity guidelines and communications approaches

Define SocialGuide market segments and related clients opportunities, including the Total Available Market for each segment (e.g., network, agency, advertisers)

Define company business and brand messaging for each market segment and guide strategic adjustments as market conditions change

Manage all inbound leads drive lead-generation process for new market se! gments

Identify and manage outbound marketing opportunities

Create all marketing material and collateral and assist in the creation of all sales collateral to ensure consistency of brand messaging

Maintain all digital and social properties including corporate website and social media pages/identities

Identify strategic industry and trade events and related opportunities; manage editorial calendar, draft speaker pitches, create presentation content (PPT, talking points, visuals, etc.)

Support sales efforts in client-facing role

Anticipate awareness of issues facing the company's businesses and appropriate response to maintain or enhance the company's reputation

Internal Marketing & Communication

Guide all internal employee communication and engagement strategies for SocialGuide and throughout Nielsen

Develop relationships with key Nielsen constituents including Nielsen’s corporate and brand Ma! rketing & Communications teams, Nielsen’s sales teams (including Clie! nt Business Partners), Nielsen’s IR team and Nielsen’s Product and Measurement Science teams to leverage Nielsen assets for the SocialGuide business and ensure SocialGuide Marketing & Communications strategy aligns with Nielsen’s business strategy and policies

Manage all cross-company relationships with other Nielsen businesses to ensure appropriate integration of company messages among businesses.

  • Manage Nielsen-related events for SocialGuide, including Nielsen’s annual flagship event, C360
Develop key themes and messages incorporating and supporting broader Nielsen strategic initiatives

Communications/ PR

Provide communications consultation and leadership on key company transformation and change initiatives.

Strategically guide all brand messaging and determine proactive and reactive media strategies to drive brand awareness and enhance public understanding of business strategy

Draft all pub! lic-facing business and brand communications including press releases, strategic messaging, corporate and brand talking points/FAQs and public presentations

Manage all incoming media requests and advise management on response and media engagement strategies

Create and implement a proactive data-driven PR campaign to enhance the presence of SocialGuide data in key publications, including top tier print and broadcast, media and advertising trades and key social/digital outlets

Serve as an on-the-record company spokesperson, if needed

Serve as a strategic business partner to key SocialGuide partners, including Twitter, and co-manage any accompanying media strategies/campaigns

Work closely with Nielsen’s PR teams and PR teams of all strategic SocialGuide partners

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a senior marketing and communications executive, with experienc! e driving B2B marketing and communications initiatives. Specific requir! ements include:

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Communications, Public Relations or related field.

Demonstrated track record of embracing new digital marketing technologies and techniques to drive growth and brand differentiation.

Proven experience in social media, digital marketing, direct marketing and/or related disciplines.

Must have the ability to create and develop marketing strategy to include advertising, public relations, competitive analysis, and market research.

Extensive knowledge of strategic marketing, customer relationship management

Excellent writing and analytical skills

Ability to build consensus among varying audiences, negotiate change, handle conflict calmly and professionally, and work under pressure

Possesses ability to judge and prioritize strategic issues
