This position will provide business and legal affairs support to EPIX, focusing primarily on acquisitions of films and comedy/music specials; original series deve! lopment and co-productions; and promotional and marketing of EPIX programming across all platforms. This position will work under the supervision of the BALA Vice President- EPIX. EPIX is the cross-platform premium movie network that is a joint venture of Viacom, Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate.
Responsibilities:
Negotiate and draft a high volume of development and production agreements, including production services agreements, co-production agreements, license agreements, rights acquisition agreements, talent agreements, and consultant agreements
Review production services, studio output, distribution and other agreements to analyze available rights and restrictions
Prepare rights analyses for new media/emerging platforms
Coordinate between and counsel marketing and creative services on various intellectual property and marketing matters including copyright, trademark, as well as studio and marketing approvals
Basic ! Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 4 years previou! s experience as a lawyer in an entertainment law firm or business/legal affairs position at a major studio, network or entertainment company with specific experience in television
Solid experience and deep knowledge of television business and general entertainment industry required
Ideal candidate has working knowledge of television programming and general intellectual property matters
Desired Qualifications:
Excellent negotiating and drafting skills, including the ability to interpret and analyze comments from opposing counsel
Clear and effective communication skills and excellent organizational skills
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to client concerns, questions and issues
Ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize/execute to completion a high-volume of deals simultaneously and on time
Team player who is also able to exercise responsibility and handle initiatives and transactio! ns independently
Education:
J.D. degree, admitted in New York
