The Assistant Editor, Third-Party Content, is responsible for coordinating, editing and publishing articles from a large cross-section of legal industry experts. ! This includes searching for potential articles/authors, reviewing article pitches, corresponding with attorneys and PR firms, executing publishing contracts, scheduling and managing articles in a custom content management system, and editing articles for in-house and AP style.
Third-party content is written by regularly scheduled authors, as well as commissioned by topic. We also review unsolicited article pitches on an ongoing basis. Article topics are practice- or industry-specific, analytical, and written with a business audience in mind.
While a certain amount of administrative work will be required, the position will be ideal for someone interested in future work as a copyeditor.
Required for consideration:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or related field; graduate degree preferred
Copyediting experience and firm grasp of AP Style
MS Word, Excel, Google Apps knowledge
Interest in pursuing a job! in copyediting
Knowledge of legal industry a plus
