Overview:
We are looking for a staff level attorney to assist with intellectual property matters. This is a newly created position that will work under the supervision of a senior level attorney with marketing, creative and production teams advising a diverse and challenging array of intellectual property matters affecting the company. This individual will also be expected to work on commercial and litigation matters regarding intellectual property, as well as other matters, as needed
Responsibilities:
- Conduct trademark, copyright and design reviews.
- Provide advice and counsel regarding copyright, trademark and domain name issues.
- Draft and review contracts including service, marketing, licensing, consulting and other business agreements.
- Review promotional, marketing and advertising material.
- Work collaboratively with paralegal.
- Develop and deliver training to business colleagues in areas of intellectual property law.
- Support growth of global intellectual property program.
- Must be available to work on site at J. Crew's New York headquarters full-time.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3 - 6 yrs. experience in intellectual property law with a nationally recognized corporation and/or large law firm.
- Superior academic credentials, including J.D. from a top tier law school and membership in good standing with at least one state bar or the District of Columbia. Must be willing to obtain New York law license.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be a team player, self-motivating, collaborative, and energetic.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, sound judgment and discretion.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to formulate creative solutions to accomplish the company's objectives.
- Ability to work effectively with other departments, to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines with consistent high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
