A bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in a position responsible for dealing with the general public and business representatives to either:
- Gather information from multiple sources and prepare factual reports;
- Provide written and verbal information concerning laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures; or
- Resolve problems by negotiating solutions
Duties Description
1. Supervises a team of Consumer Representatives (DFS), assigning and reviewing the work of these subordinates.
2. Handles more complex cases or cases that might set precedent.
3. Guides lower-level staff, including Consumer Representatives (DFS) and student assistants, during the handling of complaints or inquiries from consumers.
4. Maintains expertise in specialized areas of finance, including Department policy and procedures and laws, rules, regulations and codes governing products and services over which team has jurisdiction.
5. Assists Consumer Representatives (DFS) in obtaining information relevant to the complaint/issue, and if necessary, seeks advise from the Senior Insurance Examiner or Associate Attorney on appropriate settlement or resolution.
6. Participates in meetings or conferences with complainants, financial institution /entity representatives, examiners, attorneys and others to explain issues and findings.
7. Ensures that cases are entered into database for tracking purposes.
8. Other duties as assigned.
