This Director, Office of the General Counsel, based in New York City, will assist the General Counsel of Thomson Reuters and her Executive team with project management and generalist work while also taking the operational lead for day-to-day management of department responsibilities and strategic projects. The Director will manage the overall project flow within our Corporate Legal department and strategic business unit attorneys worldwide. The role will be responsible to provide analytical support in areas including, but not limited to: general research, presentation creation and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) updates. The Director will act as moderator for Legal Council meetings, assisting the General Counsel with agenda setting, presentation coordination and follow up around key issues/actions.
Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Manage the department's annual budgeting process and maintain ongoing reporting and analysis of department spend throughout the year. Will also report on outside counsel spend through various reporting tools Serve as a representative of the department to other corporate functions on department matters and work with the business units on various assignments and projects on behalf of the department Work directly with the General Counsel of Thomson Reuters and her senior leadership team on various department initiatives. Also create and contribute to reports, presentations and projects relating to the work of the General Counsel Take the lead on the department's communication strategy including quarterly announcements, managing the content and flow of communication on the department's intranet community, and drafting communications updates on behalf of the General Counsel and/or the senior legal team Maintain a strong operating rhythm for quarterly and monthly meetings for the General Counsel, the Practice Groups, and the Senior Legal Team including setting the agenda and moderating discussions Serve as the operations lead for the company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program including coordinating the risk identification and assessment process across functions and businesses and preparing reports and presentations for the company's senior executives and board of directors

Bachelors Degree required; JD or MBA preferred Experience in the consulting industry preferred 3 or more years of legal industry experience preferred Experience interpreting and analyzing financial trends and data preferred Qualified candidate will have superior communication skills, written and verbal, as this role will have direct interaction with the General Counsel of Thomson Reuters and the Thomson Reuters Executive Committee Understanding of the corporate legal function and the numerous regulatory and operating activities they are involved in daily in helpful Strategic thinker with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts and convey their relevance to evolving situations Superior project management skills and organizational relations Positive attitude and high energy level. Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships at all levels within an organization; must project a strong positive impact on others Excellent analytical and problem solving skills Well-skilled in analytics and data interpretation Ability to drive effective results in cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization
