Description: HRA/DEPT OF SOCIAL SERVICES is looking of ATTORNEY INTERN right now, this occupation will be placed in New York. The Commercial Law Division of the Office of Legal Affairs handles a large volume of transactional legal work. The Division is currently responsible for counseling, preparation of legal documents, including contracts and opinions of law, and special projects in all areas of Commercial, Real Estate Acquisitions and Maintenance, Construction, Land Use and Environmental, Financial (including insurance, securities, and Federal funding), and Corporate Law. In addition, this Division acts as liaison and Agency representative in transactions entered into between the Agency and other City ! agencies.
The Attorney Intern, under close supervisio! n of a Supervising or Senior Attorney, with some latitude for independent judgment and un-reviewed action and decision, performs legal work, including the following:
- Provide legal assistance to HRA program areas by researching applicable statutes, case
ramifications of laws, rules, and regulations related to the delivery of services.
- Draft legal documents including affidavits, stipulations, legal opinions, memoranda and
- Perform other related tasks as required.
Graduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections 520.3 or 520.5) or admission to the New York State Bar.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
