GENERAL COUNSEL (BANKING) The New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) seeks a General Counsel to provide primary support to the General Counsel, of! the Department of Financial Services (DFS) in the preparation and development of positions on legal issues and matters insofar as they affect State banking organizations and the laws and regulations administered by the Banking Division of the DFS. The General Counsel supervises the work of the Assistant Counsels and Associate Attorneys; reviews the quality and content of drafted legislative proposals and legal opinions; oversees the initiation and preparation of cases set for Departmental hearings in discipli- nary actions against banking organizations or licensees. Qualifications: New York State Bar Admitted, 10 years practicing law with an emphasis in financial services industry experience, preferably in banking regulation. The preferred candidate will have exp managing legal & governance issues of a large corporate or government enterprise.
