In this newly-formulated position reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Institutional Giving will build institutional support from foundations and other institutional donors. The Director of I.G. will develop and implement a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and acknowledging foundation and government funders and will be responsible for building strategic relationships with relevant institutional staff and stakeholders. In addition, the Director of I.G. will manage the development of written materials including proposals and supporting materials as well as relevant content for brochures and annual reports, etc. and will work with communications staff to harmonize messa! ges across the organization.

Key responsibilities
Craft and implement an annual plan to build PILnet's base of foundation donors and expand its roster of government-funded opportunities.

Develop, strengthen and maintain relationships with foundation donors and program officers at government agencies.

Identify new foundation funding opportunities

Identify new government funding sources and explore partnerships in order to respond to such opportunities

In collaboration with field-based program staff, develop and draft concept papers, letters of interest, project proposals and project reports.

Identify external evaluators for relevant projects and oversee their execution.

Prepare proposal budgets with program staff and finance department.

Manage the development of written development materials including brochures, annual reports, etc.

Work with communications staff to harmonize messages coming out of development and communications efforts.

! Qualifications

BA degree required; graduate degree highly desirable.

Minimum of seven years fundraising experience or similar skills exhibited in a professional role.

Demonstrated track record of major success in grant writing and funder relationship management with leading foundations.

Proven ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that is compelling and comprehensive to the potential donor.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.

Knowledge and understanding of international relations and human rights.
