This position is located in the Office of Credit Ratings located in New York, New York and Washington, DC. The position in Washington, DC will require frequent travel to New York, New York.

! The Office of Credit Ratings ("OCR") assists the Commission in! executing its responsibility for protecting investors, promoting capital formation, and maintaining fair, orderly, and efficient markets through the oversight of credit rating agencies registered with the Commission as "nationally recognized statistical rating organizations" or "NRSROs." In support of this mission, OCR monitors the activities and conducts examinations of registered NRSROs to assess and promote compliance with statutory and Commission requirements.

Salary Range: $116,731 - $196,647(New York, NY); $110,910 - $186,841(Washington, DC)
KEY REQUIREMENTS

Open to all U.S. citizens and persons lawfully admitted for permanent
residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)(B). DUTIES:

Serves as a legal adviser for one of the Office of Credit Ratings' programs
Researches, analyzes and interprets a wide variety of complex issues concerning NRSROs under securities laws, rules and regulations
Drafts! and finalizes NRSRO laws and regulations; prepares exemptive orders and no-action letters
Assists with implementation and interpretation of rules regarding NRSROs and credit ratings, and application of rules to examination process
Develops new laws and policies; participates in reform initiatives
Researches and prepares detailed reports, including an annual report to Congress, studies and memoranda, regarding ratings and rating agency matters
Analyzes formal filings made by NRSROs with the SEC, performance statistics, rating methodologies and procedures, issuance and surveillance trends, and processes to manage conflicts of interest
Analyzes market trends within the credit rating industry, solicits views of market participants and assesses the impact of planned or proposed Commission rules and regulations
Evaluates, shapes, and communicates best practices across the credit rating industry through formal and informal means to ensure the implementatio! n of a broad set of measures that further the goals of OCR and the legi! slative and regulatory intent through its creation QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sectors. Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education. Basic Requirements: Applicant must possess a J.D. or LL.B. degree and be an active member of the bar in good standing in any state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Minimum Qualification Requirement: In addition to the ! Basic Requirements:

SK-14: Applicants must have three years post J.D. experience as a practicing attorney, two years of which include: conducting research, reviews and analysis of a variety of issues related to Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organizations (Â"NRSROsÂ"), structured finance, corporate finance or municipal finance; analyzing market trends within the credit rating industry or financial industry; providing expert legal advice and technical support for securities laws and rules such as the Dodd-Frank Act.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Your qualifications will be further evaluated based upon the following KSAs. You are required to complete narratives for each KSA in the occupational questionnaire portion of this announcement. Failure to respond to these narratives may result in your being considered not highly qualified for the position.

Knowledge of and skill in providing legal advice regarding securities laws !
Ability to analyze complex legal issues, interpret securities laws ! and develop applicable guidance
Skill in drafting complex legal documents
Ability to explain technical legal information to a broad audience
