The Tax Officer will:
Prepare and review federal and state individual, foundation, fiduciary, partnership, and other tax returns for the Bank's accounts
Review and understand tax planning strategies and be able to articulate them to Trust Officers and RMs
Advise Trust Officers, Relationship Managers and attorneys on tax matters which affect the management of accounts
Execute tax plans which minimize overall estate and income taxes
Maintain records and information pertinent to taxes and trust accounts
Escalate technical tax issues to senior tax leadership, as appropriate
Keep abreast of changes to tax laws and regulations
Review and audit tax returns prepared by vendors to ensure accuracy and completeness
Resolve tax preparer questions with Trust Officers, as appropriate
Coordinate the prepara! tion of the most complex returns
Ensure vendors compl! y with agreed upon contract terms and the Bank's standards, policies and compliance requirements
Required Skills
5+ years of relevant experience
Degree in related field
Ability to effectively articulate complex tax provisions and tax planning strategies to internal and external clients
Experience preparing complex tax returns
Strong knowledge of the tax implications associated with investments and trust accounts
Experience with Prosystem, BNA, Microsoft Office products( Excel and Word), etc.
Experience with Tax (Compliance and Individual)
Excellent communication skills
Detail oriented
Highly organized
