Corporate Counsel
Job Summary :
Provides expert legal advice covering a variety of issues for business uni! ts that sell or service financial products or for corporate areas in general.
Provide expert legal advice to business clients on the applications of federal or local statutes and regulations, domestic and abroad, based on legal research.
Represent the Company in matters involving judicial and administrative proceedings or before regulatory bodies.
Manage and direct the day-to day legal activities required to respond to internal and external client’s legal queries, issues and concerns.
May negotiate, coordinate and monitor the management of legal matters of varying complexity.
May specialize in specific areas of law, such as litigation, tax, employment, insurance, real estate, investments or securities law.
Functional Responsibilities:
Handles intermediate level legal matters without supervision for assigned business clients or organization and can resolve some difficult problems using sound legal judgment wi! thout supervision.
Analyzes legal issues, drafts and ! executes on legal documents, and negotiates matters with internal or external constituents under minimal supervision.
Conducts legal research and gathers matter related information from various sources.
Builds client relations with diplomacy and by providing insightful, timely, and pragmatic counsel without supervision.
Begins to incorporate developed business knowledge when analyzing issues and applying legal expertise.
Prepares reports for management.
Begins to work on project or cross-functional teams.
May work with and/or guide outside counsel, as appropriate, on various matters.
Performs other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Job Requirements
Experience:
Juris Doctorate; admitted to practice before at least one state bar.
5-7 yrs. legal experience.
