Detailed specification about this job opportunity kindly read the description below. The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks to hire an Agency Attorney with
substantial experience in commercial real estate matters, particularly lease and! license interests. DCAS manages City owned buildings with public and private tenants and conducts the real estate transactions connected to acquiring, by lease or purchase, privately-owned space for City uses.
The qualified candidate will:
1) As directed by the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel for Real Estate, draft and negotiate legal documents for complex critical and time-sensitive commercial real estate transactions, primarily related to the leasing and licensing of office, industrial, and special use space, often with landlord obligations for substantial construction and alternations.
2) Coordinate with DCAS asset management staff; act as liaison to the City Law Department for reviews and approvals of real estate documents; supervise less senior attorneys.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. Admission to the New York State Bar; and either "2" or "3" below.
2. One year of satisfactory United States legal experi! ence subsequent to admission to any state bar; or
3. ! Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).
Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements:
To be assigned to Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates must have one year of experience at Assignment Level I or two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment. To be assigned to AL III candidates must have two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment.
Preferred Skills
Experience preparing leases, licenses, contracts of sales, and ancillary legal documents. Three years of transactional real estate and supervisory experience subsequent to admission to the bar is desire! d; however, at least eight years of such experience is strongly preferred.
