The Legal Assistant is responsible for:
Transcribing dictation tapes
Proofreading documents and checking for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar
Preparing check requests for processing with appropriate backup and timely submission to accounting for payment
Typing and coordinating expense reports
Maintaining attorney(s') appointment calendar
Coordinating all client related travel
Maintaining files in an efficient and effective manner
Preparing and updating attorney case lists
Receiving, opening, prioritizing and distributing incoming mail
Preparing materials for distribution via U.S. mail, fax, courier, messenger, etc.
Maintaining confidentiality of client informati! on in accordance with the firm policies
Interacting p! rofessionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff and other representatives outside of the firm
Required Skills
2+ years of defense litigation experience
Degree in related field
Exceptional organization skills
Excellent typing skills
Ability to multitask.
Team work oriented
Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
