Continue to refine protocols and procedures for handling cases which have a substance abuse/domestic violence overlap or prostitution/dom! estic violence overlap
Track post-arraigned prostitution or substance abuse cases
Work in conjunction with judges and attorneys to identify appropriate alternative-to-incarceration options for female and transgender defendants with underlying substance abuse, mental health, or prostitution issues
Maintain and provide case management updates and memos for all court cases
Report on defendants’ progress and compliance to court partners (including judges, defense attorneys, and prosecutors)
Prepare semi-annual grant progress reports
Community Outreach/Social Services:
Collaborate with community partners in order to provide appropriate sexual assault and domestic violence services
Provide DV/sexual assault training to court partners, including substance abuse treatment providers, mental health treatment providers, and other stakeholders
Conduct assessments and treatment recommendations for femal! e and transgender defendants
Identify and screen pote! ntial victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking and make appropriate treatment referrals 2
Provide referrals to individual and group counseling sessions for female and transgender defendants with underlying substance abuse, mental health, or prostitution issues
Prepare, implement, and monitor treatment and service plans
Participate in case conferences
Develop, assess and maintain local referral and service resources with both public and private service providers that address women and transgender defendants’ needs
Maintain and share referral placement logs
Assist in fundraising efforts to sustain and create onsite women’s programming
Qualifications
BA required
MSW preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Experience working with populations experiencing substance abuse issues, commercial sexual! exploitation, domestic violence and/or sexual assault
Ability to interact with members of the judiciary, court and criminal justice personnel
Work experience with criminal justice issues preferred
Fluency in a second language preferred
