The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. The NYISO's Legal department invites applications for a full-time Senior Compliance Attorney.

The successful candidate will oversee all day-to-day facets of NYISO corporate compliance program and coordinate all major activities of the compliance team. The candidate will be required to develop substantive expertise in each of NYISO's major compliance areas including FERC, NERC, NPCC, IRS, NYSRC, NAESB, and DOL. This position will report directly to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Essential duties include: review and enhance on an on-going basis NYISO's compliance policies, processes and controls; represent NYISO in compliance-related legal and regulatory proceedings including audits, investigations, and evidentiary hearings and assist in standards development and rulemakings; develop annual Board, management and employee compliance and code of conduct training program; and resolve Code of Conduct issues arising under NYISO tariffs and handle CEII and other confidentiality matters. Qualifications include: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from accredited law school; excellent academic credentials; Bar admission required. A minimum of seven years of significant related experience practicing before FERC or other state regulatory commissions on energy matters required; experience at an ISO, public utility, energy marketing company or a high-level legal position at the Public Service Commission desired.
