The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented intellectual property attorney with four (4) to six (6) years of relevant and applicable experience to join the Patent and Trademark practice group in our New York office. The candidate will report directly to a Managing Director/Associate General Counsel in the practice group. A successful candidate must be a registered patent attorney able to work well collaboratively, and to perform diverse legal duties requiring confidenti! ality, initiative and sound judgment. In addition, a successfu! l candidate must be a detail oriented self starter who requires little supervision and has the ability to multi-task.
The Patent and Trademark practice group is a dynamic group of legal professionals that provides legal support for the firm's patent and trademark needs. The group•s primary goal is to protect the firm•s intellectual property. We manage all patent and trademark registration, directly support the IP management business, provide IP expertise in transactional agreements and act as IP subject matter experts for JPMorgan Chase. The group directly advises and works closely with ! business and technology executives on technology and intellectual property issues in order to achieve the business clients' objectives and collaborates with other attorneys and partners to identify and minimize risk and maximize the value of our intellectual property assets in accordance with the bank's policies and procedures . Major directives for the group include the ongoing development of new client relationships within the bank, creating and maintaining efficient IP management processes, and educating both clients and other attorneys on technology and intellectual property issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the patent prosecution docket, law firms and paralegals that make up our patent prosecution team
- Serve as an essential business partner to business clients and to attorneys in advising on intellectual property legal issues and risks, company policies and procedures, and IP strategy.
- Manage IP compl! iance issues and work closely with internal teams to ensure the highest! possible legal protections for the firm.
- Build and maintain client relationships, assisting clients with any and all legal issues in addition to technology and intellectual property issues.
- Be an enthusiastic and creative advocate for IP protection
