porting directly to the Managing Directors and Co-head! s, Cross-Business Risk (Trading Products â" Financial Products / Debt Products), the Director of Regulatory Risk will lead and coordinate the affected business unitsâ response to new requirements, performing initial triage on the affected stakeholders, coordinating resources, and advising management on near-term impacts. Additionally, the Director will lead a small team whose mission as part of Cross Business Risk group is to provide expertise within the business on regulatory issues, assist the business in understanding the impact of new and emerging regulations on existing activities, and prototype for the business new surveillance and reporting systems that help management fulfill its first-line oversight responsibility, prior to the installation of long-term solutions that are delegated to the BUCO or TFS, or are alternatively monitored independently by BMO Compliance.
Key Accountabilities:
Market Knowledge / Business Knowledge
Extensive ! familiarity with the most common forms of over-the-counter der! ivatives transactions, including interest rate derivatives, credit derivatives, foreign exchange, equity derivatives, and securitization concepts.
Direct experience in dealing with regulatory bodies. Familiarity with the language and techniques of regulatory change. Ideally the candidate will have had some direct prior contact with the CFTC, NFA, SEC, FINRA, OCC, and/or the FRB.
Strong working knowledge of international banking regulation, including the principal actors, major legislation, and recent trends
Familiarity with cross-border transaction mechanics and the implications under Dodd-Frank and G20 reform.
Reasonable understanding of the basics of database design, technological change management, and testing and implementation regimes.
Ability to read and research legal and policy documents independent of legal advice, challenging and clarifying preliminary advice as appropriate.
Understanding of financial forecasti! ng, project budgeting, and resource allocation functions.
Strong written communications skills; contribute to the written policy formation process.
Strong familiarity with exchange-traded products, securities, and the relevant regulatory regimes for each.
Leadership
Ability to effectively lead small, effective teams of people to efficient solutions to complex problems.
Strong delegation, small project management, and follow-up skills.
Ability to positively influence people to desired outcomes.

Qualifications
Four-year college or university degree required.
Lawyer or legal training preferred.
CFA, MBA, or advanced degree beneficial.
8-10 years of industry related experience
Thorough knowledge of capital markets products.
Strong understanding of trading procedures and broader regulatory and financial concepts
