Description
A Managing Counsel is a highly experience attorney that is highly competent in his/her area of practice. He/She should ha! ve strong leadership skills, to motivate and direct individuals. In addition, he/she would maintain relationships with outside counsel. He/she must have a solid understanding of the Company and its products with advanced knowledge of the specific line of busines/function that he/she supports.
The attorney will ideally have experience handling bank regulatory matters in a federal or regulatory agency or in house financial institution, including:
Interpretation of statutes, regulations, and regulatory guidance.
Advice to various levels of management on NY State bank, federal reserve member bank, national bank, and financial holding company legal and regulatory matters.
Preparation of regulatory applications for mergers, corporate reorganizations, off-shore investments, capital reductions and similar matters.
Assistance in preparation of policies and procedures designed to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements.
Policy advocacy e! fforts - meeting with and briefing of regulatory agency and le! gislator's staff, drafting of comment letters in response to proposed regulations, working with trade groups on policy advocacy initiatives, monitoring of regulatory and legal developments affecting bank or BHCs and advising appropriate personnel of same, monitoring corporate-wide advocacy efforts.
Qualifications
10+ years experience within th legal industry. Working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and interpretations, preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills and strong preference for someone who works well in a team environment.
