We are currently seeking a Loss Mitigation Analyst to join our team in our Purchase, New York location. Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Review and analyze data that is relevant for developin! g loss mitigation strategies and establishing metrics to monitor departmental performance.
  • Presents to Senior Management to provide updates on reporting metrics and progress on department goals.
  • Responsible for the auto repossession process from beginning to end, including approval of bids within scope of authority.
  • Receives all notices relating to Bankruptcy filings and follows procedure to minimize losses. Refers unusual or difficult cases to the Loss Mitigation Supervisor for direction.
  • Prepares recovery checks received from collection attorneys and/or members, along with payments from members enrolled in Consumer Credit Counseling.
  • Manages pipeline of delinquent 2 nd mortgages. Works with borrowers to resolve delinquent balances. Works with Finance on allowance and anticipated charge off reports.
  • Monitors vendor website to track member credit report disputes. Researches all disputes and submits response.
  • Rev! iews requests for troubled debt restructures (extensions, deferments, payment reductions) and approves same within scope of authority. Makes recommendations to the Loss Mitigation Supervisor for any requests outside the scope of authority.
  • Develops policies and procedures within the Loss Mitigation department.
  • Assists with answering the incoming Loss Mitigation telephone calls, Service Requests (SRs), e-mail requests, and mail.
  • Assists Loss Mitigation Supervisor with the preparation of monthly charge off and real estate delinquency reports.
  • Promotes and maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner consistent with professional standards to get along with members, co-workers, management and vendors. · Stays abreast of industry developments including but not limited to changes in regulations.
    • Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures and Banking/Credit Union regulations.
    • Perfo! rms additional duties as required.
    Essential Skills, Knowled! ge and Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in the Business field preferred with 1-2 years experience in financial services, preferably in mortgage loss mitigation and foreclosures preferred.
    • Knowledge of foreclosure process, repossession of collateral or fraud prevention strongly preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with additional web-based applications.
