Position Summary:
As a member of our legal team you will manage corporate errors and omissions/bad faith suits nationwide involving commercial coverage and claim handling issues, supervise and direct outside counsel and play a key role in negotiations.
Organizational Structure:
This position reports to the Vice President of Errors and Omissions (“E & Oâ€) and will work with internal claim clients, senior management and outside counsel.
Performance Objectives:
- Manage all aspects of E&O and Bad Faith litigation nationwide; direct and supervise locally retained counsel.
- Regularly communicate with internal claim clients including senior management.
- Conduct bad faith training to Chartis offices nationwide.
- Participate and/or lead special projects as needed.
The Ideal Candidate Should Have:
- Must be a licensed attorney, admitted to the New York Bar.
- Experience in commercial insurance coverage litigation as well as civil defense litigation.
- Subject matter competence in the areas of coverage and / or bad faith law.
- Ability to prioritize and manage a diverse caseload and direct locally retained counsel to ensure a quality work product.
- Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Ability to travel nationwide.
