Location: Wading River, New York

Description: Little Flower Children and Family Services is looking of LPN right now, this occupation will be designated in New York. Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a not-for-profit charity serving children, families and developmentally disabled adults across New York City and Long Island. Our staff provides caring and professional services to nearly 2,000 people annually. Little Flower’s programs are populated through contractual relationships with referring agencies including state and local government, courts and school districts. Under the supervision of the R.N., the L.P.N. for the Residential Treatment Center (RTC)carries out a variety of duties for which specialized training and experience are required. The work of the L.P.N. is subject to agency policies and practices and the supervision of Registered Nurses.

Job Duties:

  • Prepares and dispenses medication to children; maintains charts; assists professional nurses in treating children.
  • Maintains inventory of medications and supplies and re-orders when necessary.
Job Requirements:
  • Good knowledge of nursing techniques and practices.
  • Good knowledge of supplies and equipment used in care of patients.
  • Skill in carrying out prescribed therapeutic measures. Ability to follow oral and written directions in exact detail as directed by R.N. or physician.
  • Ability to recognize and judge symptoms indicating need for emergency treatment or care.
  • Ability to deal with children sympathetically and tactfully while carrying out prescribed treatment.
  • Ability to read and prepare patient reports.
  • Ability to explain child's specific illness to cottage staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a currently valid Practical Nurse License issued by the State of New York.

Skills

This is a full-time position. The hours are: Monday-Thursday, 3 pm to 10 pm/Saturday 7 am to 3 pm.
